Lane Bates, CFP®

As Managing Director of Compass Capital, Lane Bates combines his expertise in financial planning with a dedication to client success. In his role as a Certified Financial Planner™, Lane collaborates with individuals and families to develop tailored strategies that help protect and grow their wealth while minimizing taxes. Beyond his work with clients, he oversees firm operations and advisor activities, ensuring that the team operates efficiently and always prioritizes clients’ best interests.

Lane joined Compass Capital in November 2019, motivated by his passion for helping others pursue their financial goals. He begins every client relationship with three essential questions: Where are you now? Where are you trying to go? And what concerns do you have about getting there? Using this information, Lane crafts clear and actionable plans that help clients achieve their aspirations. His favorite part of the job is presenting these customized solutions and coaching clients toward their goals.

A Louisiana native, Lane grew up in Covington and attended St. Paul’s School before earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. He holds multiple professional credentials, including Life and Health Insurance Licenses, as well as Series 7, 66, and 24 registrations, reflecting his comprehensive knowledge in financial services.

Guided by the philosophy, “He who stops striving to be better will cease to be good,” Lane approaches his work and life with a focus on continuous improvement. In his spare time, he enjoys weightlifting, fishing, and playing golf. Lane and his wife currently reside in Metairie, Louisiana, where he continues to serve clients with dedication and care.
